Congratulations to the 2022/23 Brett Stibners Para Athlete of the Year Award, JACK GIBSON!

Jack Gibson is an up-and-coming athlete, with great versatility, competing in both swimming and triathlon over the past 12 months.

Jack finished 1st in the NSW/TACT Super Sprint Championships as well as winning the NSW Billigence Series. He won gold in the Australian All Schools Triathlon Para and the Australian All Schools Para Relay. Jack was also selected in the Able-Bodies NSW Team for Australian All Schools, which has never been done before by a Para Athlete.

In the pool, Jack has gained 8 Gold throughout the season. He competed in the NSW Country Swimming Championships, National Country Swimming Championships, Australian Age Swimming Championships and more recently the Australian All Schools Swimming Championships.

Jack also won the NSW All Schools Cross Country this year.

Jack continues to grow in confidence and is truly committed to his sporting career. The sky is the limit for Jack, and we are excited for what the future holds for him.

Brett Stibners is a four time Paralympian and 2010 World Champion in Wheelchair Basketball, Brett epitomises the dedication and tenacity required of an athlete and is a role model for Athletes with a Disability in the Illawarra and throughout Australia. The Illawarra Academy of Sport is proud to be associated with Brett and honoured that he would allow his name to be attached to this award.
