CLUB/ASSOCIATION: Wests Illawarra Aquatic/CPSARA. Why did you apply for an IAS scholarship? Because I am interested in learning new things about every aspect of my sports and using it to further develop my ability Who’s your favourite professional athlete and why? My favourite professional athlete is Muhammad Ali, because he is such an inspirational person who set high standards for himself as an athlete and always backed up his talk with his actions. His attitude towards training and performing are things that inspire me and I have several of his quotes in various places to help motivate me. If you weren’t playing this sport what would you be doing and why? Having more of a social life because I wouldn’t be spending as much time training and competing. How would you describe yourself in one sentence? I am interested in sport, enjoy self improvement and have high expectations of myself. What are your plans beyond school? I want to represent Australia at the Paralympic Games. My plans after sport are to study law and become a lawyer. If you could live anywhere in the world it would be? Australia. What do you do in your free time? I like to play video games and make/listen to music. What is your favourite subject at school? PDHPE. What is your greatest achievement in your sports so far? In my opinion, my greatest achievement in swimming is breaking Matt Cowdrey’s national age record in the 100 metres butterfly and winning national gold in this event. My greatest achievement in soccer is getting selected to represent Australia at the CP World Games in Nottingham, England, this year. When did you start playing your sport and how did you get started? I started swimming competitively when I was 12 and got started because I heard about athletes with a disability programs. I have been playing soccer since I was five and got into it because my dad played as a kid.
