The Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS) has been proudly announced as the next host for the Your Local Club Academy Games for a three-year tenure, commencing in 2025. This exciting development marks a significant milestone in the sports calendar, showcasing the talent and dedication of emerging athletes from across New South Wales and is a significant win for the region.
The Your Local Club Academy Games, a premier sporting event, brings together the eleven regional academies from across NSW to compete in seven key sports, with some
demonstration sports also to be included in the line-up for Tamworth. Building on the success of previous years, Tamworth will become the epicentre of athletic prowess and sportsmanship, offering a platform for young athletes to shine on the statewide stage.
In its final year under the stewardship of the Southern Sports Academy, the 2024 Your Local Club Academy Games was held this past weekend in the Wagga Wagga region. This year’s event was a thrilling spectacle, featuring top-tier competition in Basketball, Cycling, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Indoor Volleyball, and Triathlon.
“The selection of NIAS as the host for the next three years underscores our commitment to fostering excellence in sport and providing a platform for young athletes to realise their potential,” said Shona Eichorn, NIAS CEO. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome athletes, coaches, and supporters from across NSW to Tamworth, where they will experience our world-class facilities, camaraderie and vibrant community spirit, in what will be a significant economic boost to our region from 2025-2027.”

The Regional Academies of Sport (RAS), in collaboration with event host academies, spearheads the organisation of the Your Local Club Academy Games. With the unwavering support of the Principal Partner, Clubs NSW and the backing of the NSW Government through the Office of Sport, the Games continue to flourish as a testament to the commitment of the RAS network in nurturing athletic talent across the state.
