Day 2 of the 2024 Your Local Club Academy Games saw our IAS athletes continue to compete in volleyball, golf, hockey and basketball, and commence their campaigns in the netball and cycling events.

The netball girls kicked off today, IAS 1 coming away with one win against the South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS), and three losses to Sydney Netball Academy, Hunter Academy of Sport (HAS), and North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS). IAS 2 won three games, against the South East Sports Academy (SESA), Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS), and NCAS, and lost one to the Central Coast Academy of Sport (CCAS).

IAS hockey had a successful day, with the girls winning all four of their games against CCAS, Western Region Academy of Sport (WRAS), NCAS/SWSAS, and NIAS. The boys drew two games with SWSAS and HAS and won against NIAS earlier in the day, before drawing with CCAS and NCAS in the evening.

Our girls basketball squad lost to NCAS and SESA, before coming out on top in a later game against NCAS. The boys claimed a tight win over NCAS, before more convincingly defeating SESA, securing a spot in the semi finals. A narrow loss to WRAS in the semis will have to boys fired up to play finals on Day 3.

Zac Oysten shot a 73 +1 to be our highest placed boy in a tie for 6th. Sage Laird finished off in second place for the girls by shots, firing two great rounds. The IAS finished 6th overall, and will compete in the second division in the matchplay against Metro North tomorrow morning.
