6 IAS Athletes were part of the 15 member team that represented the South Eastern Swimming Association (SESA) at the recent Swimming NSW A Squad camp and meet held at Knox Grammar on 20-21 September. The Academy was represented by Lucy Cliff, Jarrod Dyer, Tarren Dyer, Astel Gaviglia, Jayden Hutchinson, Daniel St George. The two-day Swimming NSW camp was attended by nearly 200 athletes, coaches and support staff representing all areas of Swimming NSW. The Swimming NSW A squad is selected each year following the Australian Age and Multi Class Age Championships and Age Open Water Championships. To be eligible for selection in the squad, athletes must have competed in an individual event at the National Championships and an individual event at a NSW State Championships (LC Age, LC Open or Open Water) in the same year. The purpose of the squad and development activities is to equip the athletes with skills to step up to Finals at the following 2015 Australian Age Championships. Our athletes had the opportunity to participate in a range of education sessions including dryland training, managing social media, athlete preparation presented by James Greathead, and pool sessions including extensive aquatic testing. Both days of the camp wrapped up with a Duel Meet with SESA winning the second annual A Squad meet cup. Jarrod Dyer was also named Male Athlete of the Meet following a successful round of events. Congratulations to all Athletes on their amazing efforts over the weekend.
