The IAS Para and Lonestar athletes have had a hugely successful Swimming NSW Senior State Age Championships held from 10-16 December 2022 at Sydney Olympic Park.
Between the athletes they collected an outstanding nine gold medals, seven silver medals and two bronze, along with countless personal bests. From these great results they have qualified for the 2023 National Championships to be held on the Gold Coast in April.
Para athlete, Jack Gibson had a standout meet with three gold and three bronze medals, and the opportunity to race against high quality swimmers.
“It was pretty cool to race against Paralympians and come third behind them in an open event,” Gibson said.
Lonestar, Riley Anthes competed at the week long pool event, and then backed up after only 2 days rest to race at the Swimming NSW State Open Water Championships, where he placed 3rd in the 5km event.
