Club/association: Illawarra Why did you apply for an IAS scholarship? I applied for an IAS scholarship because I am very passionate about netball and I would one day love to play for the Diamonds. I see the AIS as a stepping stone to further enhance and develop my skills and build a better knowledge of the game. Who’s your favourite professional athlete and why? My favourite professional athlete is Cathy Freeman because she overcame adversity, persisting with her love of running to reach the pinnacle of her sport. If you weren’t playing this sport what would you be doing and why? My other passion is running (in particular the 400m and 800m). Running is a very rewarding sport which has helped me with my speed and fitness on the netball court. How would you describe yourself in one sentence? I am an outgoing girl with a bubbly personality and I always strive to achieve the very best in all aspects of my life. What are your plans beyond school? To be a professional netballer and one day represent the Diamonds. I also have an interest in English and in the future would love to become a journalist. If you could live anywhere in the world it would be? I would one day love to travel the world, but Wollongong is a stunning place and I couldn’t imagine calling anywhere else home. What do you do in your free time? When I’m not involved in sport I love to spend time with my family and friends at the beach. What is your favourite subject at school? My favourite subjects are English and PDHPE. What is your greatest achievement in your sport so far? Winning the PSSA state championships as a member of the Mackillop netball team and representing Illawarra at State Age for the previous three years. When did you start playing your sport and how did you get started? I began playing netball in the under eight’s Fairy Meadow team with a group of school friends.
