CLUB/ASSOCIATION: Illawarra Triathlon Club Why did you apply for an IAS scholarship? I applied for an IAS scholarship because triathlon is a sport I love to compete in. I believe IAS will teach me the right techniques to improve my results, it will assist me through improved training and diet, but also giving back to the community. Who’s your favourite professional athlete and why? My favourite sportsman is Lionel Messi. Messi has been a huge influence in my life because from my perspective he is the greatest ever soccer player to play the game. Even if Messi loses a game he is always very humble in a way that makes us younger audience aspire to be like him. If you weren’t playing this sport what would you be doing and why? I would like to be an orthodontist because it would also be a challenging but rewarding job. How would you describe yourself in one sentence? I would describe myself as an active and adventurous sportsman, who gives everything. What are your plans beyond school? My plans are to be a professional sportsman and also have a degree in dentistry. If you could live anywhere in the world it would be? If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live in England because it is a vibrant country, who dedicate a lot of money for development to improve their sportspeople. What do you do in your free time? Most of my free time is put into training for triathlons, studying for school and hanging out with my friends. What is your favourite subject at school? My favourite subject at school is English because you have so many different perspectives on a topic and it is going to be useful in the future years. What is your greatest achievement in your sport so far? My greatest achievement in sport is winning Sportsperson of The Year at The Illawarra Grammar School. When did you start playing your sport and how did you get started? I started triathlons at a young age around 7 years old. I got started because I love swimming, bike-riding and running, so I knew that this was the sport that suited me.
