The Illawarra Academy of Sport is thrilled to announce the partnership with a leading, innovative local bank, Illawarra Credit Union.
The Illawarra Credit Union and the IAS unite with the same values and passion for continual improvement to provide the best possible outcomes to our clients, partners and athletes. We are excited to be partnering with an organisation that reflects our strong commitment to the community.
Illawarra Credit Union and the IAS have signed a major sponsorship agreement, reinforcing the synergies and strength of the association despite the current climate and time of uncertainty.
The current restrictions that are in place reinforce the necessity to commit to excellence which has led to the IAS being able to implement a variety of innovative ways to engage with our athletes whilst at home. The IAS is now providing a higher level of service to our athletes through a series of sport psychology education webinars; home-based strength and conditioning programs; real-time remote monitoring of strength and conditioning routines; the implementation of a Captains program; focused coach development through our QUBE Ports professional development program; increased social media utilisation; and a Regional Academies first in rolling out education to all Academy athletes across the state.
“The synergy between the organisations is remarkable,” said CEO of the Illawarra Academy of Sport, John Armstrong “both organisations have a deep commitment to the local region, a real sense of community and a commitment to the values that encourage citizenship, leadership and trust in those around us. Each are leading the way in innovative delivery and a heightened level of service to their respective clientele.”
“We’re committed to assisting our customers and people within our community to achieve their financial goals. Partnering with IAS will allow the Illawarra Credit Union to assist the athletes and their families, while also allowing the IAS to foster young talent.” Illawarra Credit Union CEO, Anthony Perkiss said.
“As a local organisation, we have a responsibility to foster young talent and help provide pathways for a successful career. We’re thrilled to be partnering with the IAS in developing the young talent of the Illawarra,”
An IAS rugby league athlete himself in the early 1990s, Perkiss has fond memories of his time in the Academy.
“In my early years, I had the fortunate opportunity to participate in the Rugby League program with the Illawarra Academy of Sport (IAS). The IAS not only helped me master the game, they were also instrumental in providing me with skills in leadership, communication, perseverance, and much more.” Perkiss reflected. “It gave me a well-rounded experience.”
The Illawarra Credit Union is not only providing support to the Academy financially, but also in providing financial education, and assisting local athlete’s and their families with their financial needs through exclusive offers and access to the ‘Your Financial Wellness’ tool.
