Last weekend the Illawarra Academy of Sport had 63 athletes across 4 sports participate in the 2015 ClubsNSW Academy Games on the NSW Central Coast. The IAS had athletes compete in Golf, Hockey, Netball and Triathlon. The Regional Academies of Sport Incorporated (RASi) established the Academy Games in 2005 as a means of demonstrating and celebrating the wonderful talent of Academy athletes from across regional NSW, in an environment that supports high standards in competition, respect and responsibility. After 18 holes on Saturday, the IAS girls were leading the way with Cassidy Graham (74 nett) and Sarah Johnson (76 nett) to be the top two female competitors. The boys were lead by Ben Aramayo (76 nett) and Trent Cooksley (77 nett). At the close of another tough round on the Sunday, Sarah carded an impressive 82 (158) to take out the girls competition with Cassidy scoring 86 (160) to finish 3rd. Jackson Hall also carded an impressive 81 (159) on the Sunday to be the top placed male finishing 12th. A special mention needs to go to Jarrod Callahan who bounced back after carding 108 on a tough day on the Saturday to score 83 on the Sunday. A great turn around to prove even good golfers have tough days on the course.
