The IAS provide quite a comprehensive strength and conditioning service overseen by Physical Performance Coach, Mitch Nielsen where all IAS athletes receive a sport-specific program which is updated quarterly, in addition to weekly supervised sessions and free gym access in four Council regions and at the UOW. In addition to this service, long standing IAS Partner BaiMed offer a BaiMed Performance Scholarships to 10 Academy athletes.
The selected BaiMed Performance athletes receive a free 3-month scholarship which supplements the level of service already offered by the IAS by providing an individual program tailored to their training experience, injury history and specific goals; monthly one-on-one sessions at BaiMed Performance Centre; monthly physio reviews and discounted access to all other BaiMed services.
With the exceptional caliber of 2019/20 IAS Scholarship athletes, the competition for receiving a BaiMed Performance Scholarship is quite high. Athletes are nominated by coaches based off current training attendance, application and attitude at training, S&C attendance and desire to improve. “The next generation of this region is an exciting crop,” BaiMed Managing Partner, Michael Baines said.
