Indigenous Sports Program manager

The IAS is looking for a Program Manager to assist in the development of the MCR Indigenous Sports Program to be initiated in the 2020-21 program commencing in October.

The manager will be asked to coordinate the support needs of the Indigenous athletes of the IAS and will include liaison with mentors, Indigenous support networks and local and state sporting organisations that have Indigenous support networks in place.

Ideally, the manager is likely to have good networks in place and be comfortable and sensitive in the communication with athletes between 13 and 18 years of age. Preferably a lover of sport, the program is designed to provide bespoke support to athletes in their pursuit to achieve their sporting and personal dreams.

The IAS strongly supports the holistic development of the athlete by providing specific support in nutrition, psychology, athlete welfare and contribution back to the community.

This position, with support from the Athlete, Coach and Program Manager and all IAS staff will be instrumental in ensuring the success of this inaugural program. A strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and the local Aboriginal community will be an advantage. An honorarium will be provided to the successful candidate.
