Indigenous Talent Program

The Indigenous Talent ID Day will educate athletes about the IAS Scholarship program and identify talented athletes who will be encouraged and supported to apply for an IAS Scholarship in 2024-25. Following the application process, eligible athletes will be invited to attend sport trials (Basketball, Road / Track Cycling Netball, Volleyball,) and/or interview (Future Stars, Para, Golf, BMX, MTB, Triathlon)  

On the day, high school students try a range of sports, be assessed in strength and conditioning testing, and learn how you can be supported in your sporting pathway.

The Indigenous Talent Identification Day designed to:

– Advance opportunities in sport
– Develop a platform for athletes to be introduced to & identified in multiple sports. Identified athletes will be encouraged and supported to apply for an IAS Scholarship in 2024-25
– Play or participate in sport-specific skills in a fun atmosphere
– Showcase skills in front of coaches and selectors

Indigenous Talent Support

Information

The IAS Indigenous Athlete Support is designed to support the developmental needs of the regions young talented athletes by providing industry leading high-performance sport development programs with some additional support for indigenous athletes.

The program will provide talented athletes from within the IAS programs to increased level of support to enable their sporting progress. Athletes will have access to leading Aboriginal sports people from the district to assist, support and inspire them in their development. Additional support surrounding culture, support mechanisms between fellow indigenous athletes, access to training opportunities and guidance on how best to progress through the sporting pathways are just some of the services offered to athletes.

Fees

Athletes may be required to contribute to some additional components of the program such as camps and tours.

Athletes will also be required to purchase the IAS uniform.
