I was hoping it would enable me to improve my effectiveness as a player on the field. Who’s your favourite professional athlete and why? My favourite professional athlete is Willie le Roux, a fullback for the Springboks rugby team. He never fails to add great value on the field. He always tries his best even when the odds are not in his favour. If you weren’t playing hockey what would you be doing and why? I would be a regular member of a youth orchestra. It would be a huge opportunity for my violin playing and it would teach me the same skills you would learn in a team sport. How would you describe yourself in one sentence? I am a determined and motivated person willing to carry out challenges and to accomplish them at a high level. What are your plans beyond school? I would like to study either environmental engineering or architecture at university. What is your favourite subject at school? Art, as I love to express creativity through making art. What is your greatest achievement in your sport so far? Participating in the South Coast Schools team in Bathurst last year. When did you start playing your sport and how did you get started? Hockey has always been in my family, my father plays and from a little child he taught me the basic skills that I would require to play in a game. As I went through school in St Andrew’s School for Girls, I was a member of their school hockey team, athletics team and their netball team. I soon realised that hockey was my preferred sport. I have been playing hockey since then.
