Sport: Hockey. Club/Association: Moss Vale/Southern Highlands. Why did you apply for an IAS scholarship? Because I would like to be the best hockey goalkeeper that I can be. I know that I need help to do that. Who’s your favourite professional athlete and why? Nathan Burgers. I met Nathan at a goalie training clinic where I learnt how hard he trained and how long he waited but never gave up on achieving his dream of playing hockey for Australia. I really admire his dedication and determination. If you weren’t playing this sport what would you be doing and why? I am not too sure but I guess I would be playing some form of sport because I love being active, and having fun with friends. I have also thought about learning a new sport to try to participate at an elite level. How would you describe yourself in one sentence? I am a friendly person who is shy around new people; I could also be called sports mad as I love all sports. What are your plans beyond school? Of course, continue to play hockey at the highest level I can for as long as I can. If you could live anywhere in the world it would be? Rio de Janeiro – Brazil because I see it as being a bright, colourful place where people have lots of fun. The weather is warm most of the year and the food is amazing. What do you do in your free time? I spend most of my free time playing outside. I will hit a ball with a hockey stick or cricket bat, kick footballs, soccer balls etc and also practice bowling cricket balls. I enjoy riding my bike and visiting my friends and grandparents who live close by. What is your favourite subject at school? PDHPE. I get to play and learn about lots of different sports. What is your greatest achievement in your sport so far? Making it to the NSW High Performance squad for the top age 15 years boys. When did you start playing your sport and how did you get started? There was a notice in my primary school newsletter, I read it and asked mum if I could play.
