There are several award categories:

 

BaiMed Alumni Program Award (known as the Commitment to Excellence Award)

(Only athletes who are in their last year as an IAS athlete will be eligible to nominate for this award)

The IAS Commitment to Excellence Award will be presented to an athlete in their final year with the IAS. The award rewards an athlete who has demonstrated commitment to their training and development during their time at the IAS. It includes a 12-month membership with BaiMed Performance Centre and services valued at over $3,700.

DRB Group Athlete Leadership Award

The DRB Group Athlete Leadership Award is presented to an athlete who demonstrates outstanding leadership throughout the scholarship year. This individual shows a strong commitment to personal development, inspires excellence in others, and represents the IAS and their sport with dignity.

Additionally, the athlete contributes positively to the community and shows a consistent ability to commit to the program and other Academy activities.

DRB Group Tobin Family Athlete of the Year Award

(Self nomination for Future stars, Tennis, Football and Surf Life Saving athletes)

The DRB Group Tobin Family Athlete of the Year Award celebrates and recognises the contribution made to sport in the Illawarra region by the Tobin family and in particular Ted Tobin AM, regarded as the founder and inspiration behind the Illawarra Academy of Sport.

The award is to be presented to the Academy athlete who, during the course of their scholarship, displays an exceptional level of sport performance, dedication to their training and development, a commendable attitude to competition, and community spirit. The award represents wholistic athlete development.

Nominations for all the 2024/25 Illawarra Academy of Sport Athlete of the Year Awards close at 5pm, Monday June 30, 2025.

 

The 2024/25 Illawarra Academy of Sport Athlete of the Year Awards will he held on Monday 1 September 2025 at The Fraternity Club in Fairy Meadow, commencing at 6pm.

In 2025, the Illawarra Academy of Sport celebrates our 40th anniversary and the Athlete of the Year Awards will be a celebration event as we recognise this special milestone.

We look forward to celebrating our 40-year history and showcasing the outstanding achievements of our 2024/25 scholarship holders, as well as the remarkable generosity of our sponsors, partners, coaches, managers, supporters, and the broader Illawarra community.
