The 2017 Illawarra Academy of Sport Netball Squad will hold their final training session this Sunday before heading to the Hunter to take part in the 2017 Australian Invitational Youth Games.
Each year athletes from across Australia come together to compete at the Australian Invitational Youth Games. This winter, over 1,000 athletes will descend upon the Hunter region from around the globe to compete.
The Australian Invitational Youth Games will feature 6 sporting competitions which are free and open to the public at venues across Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Maitland.
The Netball competition will be held at Maitland Federation Sports Centre from Wednesday to Friday 12th to 14th July.
The IAS will compete in both divisions and will look to improve on last year’s result of 5th place in both divisions.
IAS Netball Head Coach Marjorie Parr said “the Australian Invitational Youth Games is our second major tournament of the year, after the ClubsNSW Academy Games and another opportunity for the girls to gain exposure to the under 17s NSW State Team Selectors and Coaches.”
“With the Regional Academies forming the important step between Associations and State, you will have the best 250+ girls in action over 3 days of competition ahead of the NSW under 17’s Trial which commence later in the year.” Parr added.
