There is no stopping BluescopeWIN Lonestar and Netballer, Chelsea Jones in the pool or on the netball court. Jones’ October school holidays were spent at the Netball NSW Academy Challenge in Orange, then straight to representing NSW at the Australian State Teams Short Course Swimming Age Championships in Canberra, followed by crossing the ditch to compete at the New Zealand National Pool Rescue Championships for NSW.
Jones was selected to compete at the highly competitive Australian State Teams Short Course Age Championships following her success in the NSW Senior State SC Championships. She continued this success by taking home five National medals in the 50m Free (2nd), 4 x 100m Free Relay (2nd), 100m Free (3rd), 200m Free (3rd) and 4 x 100m Medley Relay (3rd).
Next stop for Jones was the NZ Pool Rescue Championships. NSW selects a team based on athlete’s excellent results at NSW and Australian Pool Rescue Championships, with the aim to provide further development opportunities by competing in the NZ Championships. 14-year-old Jones wasn’t going home without making her mark on the competition again, winning gold in the 200m Obs and 4 x 25m Manikin Relay, silver in the 4 x 50m Obs Relay and bronze in the Manikin Tow with Fins.
