Our BluescopeWIN Lonestar Acrobatic Gymnasts travelled to Las Vegas, USA to compete at the 2019 Vegas Acro Cup. The Vegas Acro Cup is an International Gymnastics Federation World Cup event for Acrobatic Gymnastics, hosting teams from the USA and over 18 other countries. Throughout the competition each group performs three routines: balance, dynamic and a combined. The IAS athletes competed for their local club, the Oak Flats Albion Park Kiama Gymnastics & Acrobatics Club, collectively coming away with 2 silver medals, 2 bronze medals and 8 groups making finals!

IAS Athlete, Mikayla Carr, along with her Senior International Trio teammates Maddison Lacey & Caitlin O’Neil, placed 2nd overall after their outstanding Balance, Dynamic and Combined routines. A fantastic result, as Senior International Elite is the highest level of competition.

Ella Treanor (IAS), Indigo Conroy & Naomi Gibson placed 3rd overall in the International 13-19 years trio overall. Fellow IAS scholarship holders Molly Jewiss & Mikayla Gumm teamed up with Indianna Surian for the International 11-16 trio and placed 5th in the final, after qualifying in 2nd position and narrowly missing a medal by .05.

The trio competing in the International 12-18 category, consisted entirely of IAS Lonestar athletes – Maja Moore, Jemima Clarke & Charlotte Gumm, placed 10th in the final.

The BluescopeWIN Lonestar Acrobatic Gymnasts are now preparing to compete at the Australian Gymnastics Championships in early June at Melbourne.
