Rylee Jansen

The AFL Girls program has gone from strength to strength in the past 12 months, with athletes developing both on and off the field. Although COVID stopped the girls in their tracks with all representative competitions and NSW selections cancelled, it’s given the athletes and coaching staff more motivation and determination.  As Head Coach, Lee Murray said “2021, bring it on! Unfinished business! Watch this space big things to come!”

Congratulations to Rylee Jansen, the 2019-20 AFL Girls Athlete of the Year!

Over the past 12 months Rylee has shown herself to not only be a talented player but also a leader amongst her peers. Given her leadership qualities and commitment to the improving herself and the IAS AFL program Rylee was awarded  the U18 Captain.

Lee Murray, AFL Girls Head Coach states, Rylee is an exceptional leader who definitely leads from the front and by example. Always in attendance at gym sessions, always in attendance at training sessions and gives everything 100%

While COVID prevented Rylee from showcasing her talents at the U18 selection trials, Rylee still has plenty to look forward to with her budding AFL career.

Rylee’s commitment to her development and the IAS has been exceptional, showing great leadership, sportsmanship and being an integral part in creating a performance culture within the AFL girls’ squad. We wish Rylee all the best in her quest to play in the AFLW.
